Wet Underfloor Heating(Wet UFH)

Pipework circulating warm water from a boiler or heat pump, usually set in screed. Cheaper to run and the natural partner for a heat pump because it works at low flow temperatures, but it raises the floor and responds over hours rather than minutes.

Manifold

The hub where each floor circuit is balanced, valved and zoned. It must remain accessible for the life of the system, so its position is a decision to make deliberately at design stage rather than discover afterwards.

Tog Rating(Tog)

The thermal resistance of a floor covering. Much above 2.5 tog insulates heat away from the room, which is why thick carpet and underlay can defeat an otherwise perfectly installed system.

Screed Depth(Screed)

The layer covering wet pipework. Traditional sand-cement screed is thicker and slower to respond; liquid anhydrite screed can go thinner and conducts better, at higher material cost and with a longer drying period before the system may be commissioned.
