The XML site map at /sitemap.xml is the machine-readable feed Google and Bing crawl. This HTML site map is for humans — homeowners and tradespeople browsing the directory who want a single page that lists every public hub. Both indexes pull from the same source-of-truth data in lib/seo.js, so adding a new trade or city automatically lands in both.
Three primary axes: by trade (48 categories — plumbers, electricians, builders, roofers and more), by city (68 UK cities with local cost data and verified vendors), and by compliance regime (15 statutory schemes from Gas Safe to Water Regulations 1999). A fourth axis covers the chartered architectural-technology surface for design, planning permission and party-wall work.
Daily revalidation via Next.js ISR. Every new trade, city, compliance topic, blog post or guide added to the lib/seo.js / lib/data datasets is reflected within 24 hours. Major surface launches (new compliance topic, new trade) are also pushed to /sitemap.xml and re-submitted to Google Search Console the same day.
Use the search box in the page header, or jump straight to the most likely hub: /find-a-trade for the searchable directory of vendors, /post-job to start a job request, /cost-guides for pricing data, /trades for trade-specific landing pages, /locations for city pages, /compliance for regulatory guidance, or /questions for the long-tail Q&A index.
Every public, indexed hub and category landing page is listed. Long-tail leaves — for example the 2,784 location×trade combinations under /trades/[trade]/[city] and /cost-guides/[trade]/[city] — are linked through their parent hub rather than enumerated individually here, which keeps the page lightweight while still providing one click of crawl depth from the index. The full enumeration is in /sitemap.xml.
Email [email protected] with the URL or use the contact form at /contact. We treat every dead-link report as a P1 — broken navigation directly damages homeowner trust and tradespeople's lead flow.
No fees for homeowners. Verified trades. Escrow-protected payments. The whole TradeMatch directory works through one job-post form.
